“It is better to have lived one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a sheep”Tibetan proverb
Life doesn't just happen. You make it happen and you influence your future. 40% of your happiness is down to you, with 10% down to life-factors like where you live and who you live with, and 50% genetic.
If you 'get' that you can influence your future, you've got a much better chance of getting what you want and being happier with it. You don't need to know exactly what you want in five or ten years time, but having some long term goals and then setting yourself a path, even if you don't say it out loud, will push you closer towards it.
One of the scariest things about the future is the fear that you'll fail to realise your dreams. But the reality is there will always be setbacks and failures along the way. If you can take control, ask questions of people and be clear about what you want, at least you'll be failing in the right direction. And you might not achieve all of your dreams, but you'll be happier as you pass each milestone.
